Richard Watson is the author of many works of fiction and nonfiction. These include the novel
NIAGARA (Coffee House, 1993), translated into French and featured at the Saint-Malo International Festival du Livre in 1997;
THE PHILOSOPHER'S DIET: HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT AND CHANGE THE WORLD (Godine, 1998), translated into 9 languages; and
COGITO, ERGO SUM: THE LIFE OF RENE DESCARTES (Godine, 2002, 2007), chosen by the New York Public Library as one of
"25 Books to Remember from 2002."
Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis, he lives in Missoula, Montana, with his wife, archeologist Patty Jo Watson.
